What Is To & From Athleisure?
Most of us don't have a gym outfit and a separate life outfit anymore. We train in the morning, work through the day, travel, meet people and wind down at night. The clothes we wear are expected to keep up.
That is the idea behind To & From athleisure.
First, what is athleisure?
Athleisure is clothing designed for athletic activity that is also made to be worn everywhere else. It sits between sportswear and everyday clothing, borrowing comfort and movement from one and polish from the other.
The category has grown because of how people live. Workdays are more flexible and weekends are more active, and few people want to change three times a day.
What makes it To & From?
Plenty of athleisure is still sportswear that has been styled up. It performs well in the studio but looks out of place at a client lunch. To & From starts from the other direction.
The idea is simple: a piece should work on the way to your session, in it, and on the way back. The same garment should feel right in a Pilates class, on a train, at a desk and over dinner.
In practice, that means:
- Considered design. Clean lines, restrained colour and no loud branding.
- Quality fabrics. Materials that stretch and recover, hold their shape and feel good against the skin.
- Effortless wearability. Nothing that needs adjusting, fussing over or explaining.
What to look for
If you're choosing pieces that need to do more than one job, these are the things worth checking.
Fabric. A good athleisure fabric moves with you and returns to shape. Pay attention to how it feels, how it sits after a full day, and whether it looks the same after a wash. [Add specific fabric details for the collection.]
Cut. It should flatter standing still as well as moving. Look for structure in the right places and enough give in the rest.
Colour. Neutrals and deep tones are the easiest to mix and the least likely to date. Our colourways are sand beige, chocolate ganache, deep navy, charcoal and black.
Detail. Small things show quality: clean seams, sensible pockets and no logo doing the talking.
Construction. Where a garment is made matters. Our pieces are made in Portugal. [Add a line on your production partners.]
What a To & From day looks like
Here is how one set of clothes can work through a day:
- 7am: Pilates or a training session. Our leggings.
- 9am: Coffee and a walk to the office, with nothing to change into.
- 1pm: Lunch meeting, comfortable and presentable. Our sweatshirt.
- 6pm: Travel, errands or drinks. Our hoodie.
- 9pm: Home, still comfortable. Our leggings again!
The value of the clothes is in how many of those moments they cover well.
Building a To & From wardrobe
You don't need much. A small number of well-made pieces in colours that work together will take you further than a drawer of single-purpose kit.
Start with one piece you'd wear to train and one you'd wear to work, then look for the ones that work in both.
Why fewer, better pieces make sense
Clothes that do several jobs get worn more often, and that lowers what each wear costs. A piece you reach for every week is a better investment than one you wear twice. It's also the kinder choice for the planet: fewer pieces, worn more.
Frequently asked questions
Is athleisure the same as activewear?
Not quite. Activewear is built for performance. Athleisure is built to be worn beyond it. To & From pieces can do both.
Can you wear athleisure to work?
It depends on the workplace and the piece. Structured, well-cut items in neutral colours usually work in relaxed offices and for after-work plans.
How should I care for premium athleisure?
Follow the care label, wash at a low temperature and avoid fabric softener, which can affect stretch. [Add brand-specific care notes.]
